Apart from directly deleting the icons on your computer desktop, you can remove desktop icons in Windows 10 using the other two methods illustrated below.
- Adding Control Panel icons. Users can add a Windows Control Panel icon by installing the software program or hardware device related to the icon. If doing this does not install an icon into the Windows Control Panel that is either listed in the below chart or has been present in the past, follow the steps below.
- Organize your collections by projects, add, remove, edit, and rename icons. Use the 'Paint collection' feature and change the color of the whole collection or do it icon by icon. Download Icon font or SVG. Download your collections in the code format compatible with all browsers, and use icons.
- How to remove old notification icons from the Windows 10 system tray. Two uninstalled programs left icons in the notification area. I had a registry fix to remove them in Windows 7, but don't know if I should use it with Windows 10.
To use Google Toolbar, you need a device with Windows XP, Vista, or 7+ and Internet Explorer 6 or up. Uninstall any older versions of Google Toolbar. Go to the Google Toolbar download page.

2 ways to remove desktop icons on Windows 10:
Way 1: Remove desktop icons from the desktop context menu.
Right-click any blank area on the desktop, point at View in the context menu and tap Show desktop icons to deselect it, as shown in the following screen shot.
Way 2: Remove desktop icons in Desktop Icon Settings.
Note: This method is mainly used to remove common icons such as Network, This PC, Control Panel, Recycle Bin and User's Files.
Icons Windows Xp
Step 1: Open Desktop Icon Settings via search.
Sub-procedure 1: Press Windows+C to open Charms Menu and choose Search on it to go to Search bar.

Sub-procedure 2: Enter desktop icon in the empty box and click Show or hide common icons on the desktop.
Step 2: Deselect the desktop icons (i.e. Computer, Network, Recycle Bin, User's Files and Control Panel) and select OK, as exhibited in the picture below.
